It's long time since our schoolmates mustered, so we gathered at one of our buddy's hide out. We really had a great time roaming and we spoke about different issues and gradually, my friend named Teju, started narrating an incident.
She was taking part in a competition the other day, but as her father's schedule was hectic, she decided to go alone by public transport.
Once she boarded the bus, she informed her mother that she had just started. As it was Sunday, the bus was full. She was listening to music, when she suddenly noticed that a guy of 25-30 years was staring at her. She turned her head away from him and then he came and stood beside her. He irritated her for some time, when she lost control and asked him to go back. He went away, fearing that it would become an issue, but came back after sometime. So, she complained about this behaviour to her fellow passenger, who saved her from such an idiotic pervert.

Everyone in the bus thought that,"HE" was her cousin. She clarified he wasn't. Then, I asked her why she bore him for so much time and then she explained "I felt it's risky to shout at him in public as I would get noticed by everyone around if I did." How INSANE are we girls??? Why should we allow a guy to cross the so called etched-in-red line..We think a lot of time as such, why we are looked down by so called "MALES" in the society and the answer is "WE are giving them chance to do so".
The other day, one of my besties went for a regular checkup to a hospital and her father said happily about her being placed under the family docs care. The medic prattled on how girls are thinking of education, with no intention of getting married. As he saw girls rejecting marriages only for studying, he explained my buddy about prominence of early marriage for girls.
"You girls can be a successful Engineer. You can also be a successful Administrator. But, it takes a lot of time and patience to be a good housewife and a good mother" as quoted by the so called doc. I was taken aback when a survey reported that, even if ratio of female:male has increased, the ratio has gone down in doctors' families in India. When I heard of such a male chauvinist medical practitioner, I had to believe it. She has given an awesome answer of course that she feels like continuing her education, no matter what and asked him not to chisel with her life. I felt great about it and lauded her for her chutzpah.
Its been a great read, but I found no point in comparing the guy who embarrassed the girl in the bus and the doctor. I've found many woman who are more knowledgeable than men, managing millions of people doing great; and I've found many men who are begging on roads. There's no way to think like all men dominate the woman, and all woman are good. Good and bad will be everywhere. It should be considered like by seeing prostitutes we cannot come to conclusion that all woman are alike, the same way by seeing some doofus beasts, its not that all men are alike. I appreciate your friend's answer to the doc, its her passion. Its not like all boys make woman in the kitchen. It purely depends on how you react. The rant on women vs men can continue infinitely, despite the fact that none of them can fulfill their lives without each other.
