I feel reservation is good, not in terms of caste. Reservation for: women in public vehicles (like seats for women, separate coach for ladies, etc.), reservation for families affected in wars, economically weak, or disabled is good for society.
What's actually happening is that, students and jobs are implementing reservation system for backward and under represented communities. A talented and a reservation holder gets the same seat or job, even though both are not equally talented. And even though a student or job holder belonging to backward community is talented, others keep saying that, "you got it because you have reservation". This itself is turning the events around, all their hardwork is never appreciated and instead they are treated unequally and envied by their own friends. We also see many posts in Facebook making fun of caste reservation system. Some students or job seeking guys become lazy or reckless; as they have reservation. This system has to be changed and priority should be given to those who are talented. If at all government wants to implement reservation, the they should be helping the economically backward people in paying their fees.
When first Dr. Ambedkar implemented this caste reservation system, he mentioned that, this will be implemented for a certain period until the backward community people are settled well. Now those days have come, there are many people from backward community who are in better positions, either in government or in private organizations. But still the caste reservation is continuing because the ruling party wants to gain the votes of these communities, so they are afraid to remove this system.
Even economically backward reservation system is being misused. If you know the local rulers in your village, you can easily get an income certificate saying that your annual salary is in thousands, though you earn thousands every week. The government should take strict steps in implementing laws and in a fair way based on reservation system. And the truth is I myself belong to Scheduled Caste.
